Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement say they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.
An important official said the attack made him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in five years prior.
